Job Title: Tool & Die Apprentice
Department: Tooling FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Reports To: Director of Engineering Date Approved: 08/22/18
JOB SUMMARY:
Learn to develop, build, and setup tooling jobs; maintain tools and press equipment, and to work closely with other employees in/out of the department for the purpose of facilitating effective and efficient production.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
• Learn how to rebuild, repair and perform preventive maintenance and preservation
• Trained on various type of large transfer, progressive and transfer dies
• On-the-job training with Tool & Die Makers and must have ability to learn and follow direction
• Follow instructions and learn with the tool & die team in all aspects of tool & die work
• Communicate and build interpersonal working relationships, with strong leadership skills to understand the trouble shooting skills needed to be an effective team member
• Must be an independent thinker, self-motivated, with great attention to detail and able to produce
• Operating manual tool room equipment
• Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATIONAL & TRAINING:
• Minimum 1-3 years’ experience working in a metal stamping manufacturing environment
• Must have a High School Diploma/GED
MINIMUM LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Maintain a strong attention to detail
• Have excellent attendance
• Analytical skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Bend, stoop, squat, twist, crouch, stand and walk intermittently throughout the work day
• Occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Job duties may involve working in moderate heat during the summer
• Must be able to work with cleaning oils or other products under GHS
• Safety Glasses/Safety Goggles and hearing protection is mandatory in the plant
• Job duties will involve working near heavy machinery with moving parts and moderate noise levels
